onset of lower limb spasticity in the first decade - codon R415 variants with incomplete penetrance. Other variants associated with other forms, including later onset in adulthood. Early onset disease is very slowly progressive or even static - no significant progression was observed after 3 years of age in one family or after age 7 in another family.
