Comment on mode of inheritance: Biallelic MOI supported by OMIM.

Additional publications since last Amber reviews: PMID:27232954 (Aug 2016) report 2 Korean female siblings with compound het ST3GAL5 variants (p.Gly201Arg and p.Cys195Ser) and delayed speech (MIM:609056). Wang et al. (May 2016, PMID:26649472) reported 37 Amish patients, including 8 previously reported by Simpson et al. (2004), who were homozygous for the R288X variant in exon 6 of the ST3GAL5 gene- the individuals displayed profound ID. Therefore sufficient unrelated cases to support role of ST3GAL5 variants in MIM:609056 (which includes ID).
